NKOR News

Lovelight Yoga Festival

We met SO many amazing people at the NKOR tent throughout the three day festival. It was so humbling to hear about all of the incredible things people are doing in their respective communities to help make this world a more peaceful and loving place. We danced with MC Yogi, Matisyahu, Trevor Hall and chanted with Krisha Das & Tina Malia. On Sunday, Daniel's Sattva Yoga journey was the last class of the festival and we closed it out with a seamless mixture of powerful and heart opening kriyas calling in Shiva, Shakti, Maha Durga and ending with a nice long savasana to let the powerful events of the weekend sink deep into the Soul. Daniel was interviewed by Evolve + Ascend, be on the lookout for the interview on their website soon.

Cathy Connor's Yoga Teacher Training

Daniel traveled to Folsom, CA along with Angie Hall to spend the weekend with an amazing group of souls going through their first YTT with Cathy. Daniel taught two yoga journeys and spent some time talking about what it means to be a Sattva Yoga teacher. Angie taught two powerful & invigorating yoga journeys and shared her wealth of teaching wisdom. It was an honor to be part of another incredible weekend alongside these two amazing teachers. Kudos to all of the students that just finished their YTT!

VEToga

Daniel recently taught the monthly VEToga classes at 532 Yoga. He is an adviser on the board for VEToga and teaches yoga classes in the community to help raise awareness and funds for the amazing work they're doing to bring yoga and meditation to veterans, families of veterans and first responders. In November, VEToga will be conducting their third Yoga Teacher Training which is paid for by donations. For more information about the amazing work they are doing visit their website vetoga.org.

Upcoming Events

Ecstatic Dance :: Saturday, 9/9 - 2:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Atticus will be hosting the next Ecstatic Dance at the Edgewood Arts Center next Sunday. Ecstatic Dance DC (EDDC) is a chapter in a global community that is stoked about getting great exercise while liberating the mind + heart; connecting with self and with others in a vibrant, healthy space. We're excited about moving in organic and inventive ways that reflect how we feel, not how anyone else tells us to move.

This is a transformative, electronic dance music journey, steeped in intention. Move however you wish, play, explore. No booze, no shoes and no chit-chat on the dance floor helps us keep it real. Amazing music helps us keep it all about movement!

You can buy tickets here and check out the event on Facebook.

NEW KIND OF REBEL Foundation is participating as a ride leader in One Community Unity’s Peace Ride. We'll be leading a group of riders along the an 18-mile loop along the Potomac River with incredible views and sights of D.C.

The Peace Ride will help support One Common Unity’s (OCU) peace education programs that utilize music, the arts, nature, yoga, and meditation to help youth process trauma, learn non-violent communication and conflict resolution skills, and enhance their ability to develop and sustain healthy relationships. The event will feature artists, speakers, yoga and meditation classes, and music and poetry performances by youth who participate in OCU’s programs.

One Common Unity has engaged in astounding work that has positively impacted the lives of over 20,000 Washington, D.C. youth. They have helped children and teens graduate from high school and realize the power of their creative potential in healing themselves and uplifting their lives. Through the Fly By Light program, OCU has produced countless art shows, performances, concerts, festivals, recordings, and films, helping D.C. youth engage in meaningful and enriching activities that nourish their minds, bodies, and souls. NKOR is thrilled to contribute and be a part of this powerful event. Samantha Vaughn has taken over the NKOR blog and newsletter. She will also be assisting Daniel with all things NKOR and the daily operations of the company. Long time student of yoga, she will be traveling to the Sattva Yoga Centre in Rishikesh, India this fall for her first yoga teacher training! Samantha is ecstatic and in awe to have such an amazing opportunity, and can't wait to spread more Sattva Yoga upon her return. She is also an artist @thirdrailart and a writer. She will be writing, editing, and publishing blog posts on the NKOR site, as well as putting together the monthly newsletter. If you would like to be involved, or have your event, class, or organization included in either of these publications, please contact her at samantha@newkindofrebel.com.

Siri Shakti will be contributing to the NKOR blog. She is an author, poet, artist, Kundalini yoga teacher, life coach, and so much more. Siri Shakti will be writing blogs and contributing meditation, pranayama, and kriya videos to accompany her posts. Look out for her writing to be published soon, and visit her website! She has several great reads, delicious recipes, and spiritually enriching videos.

NEW KIND OF REBEL Foundation

A percentage of every sale goes directly to the NKOR Foundation, allowing us to engage in Seva - selfess service to others. We have been able to contribute to the impact work of organizations like One Common Unity and Academy of Hope, uniting our forces to increase consciousness, compassion, and love on our planet.

Academy of Hope, a donation-based yoga program created by Caleb Packham to raise funds to send children living in the slums of Dharamshala to school. Caleb's work is helping to uplift the community there through education and self-empowerment. NKOR Foundation has already helped to send Aman and Karan to school for an entire year, and looks forward to sponsoring more children in the future! It only costs 30,000 rupees per year to send a child to school in India (that's less than $465 per year). If you are interested in contributing to the education of a child in need, please contact Caleb through his website.

One Common Unity uses the healing powers of music, art, and peace education to combat violence and create more cohesive and loving communities. It has several programs that have completely altered communities in Washington, D.C., allowing youth to develop healthy interpersonal relationships and helping to transform and connect communities. OCU has been manifesting compassion and peace in D.C. for almost twenty years, empowering youth to achieve their fullest potential and beyond through creative expression and peace education. NKOR Foundation supported OCU at their Fly By Light showcase earlier this summer. We are also thrilled to participate in the Peace Ride this year, as means of fundraising for several of OCU's transformative programs (including Fly By Light!).

We are always looking to expand our collaborations with organizations and groups working to uplift the planet and allow every heart to open to the wonder and power of love. If you would like to discuss partnering with us for sponsorships, events, fundraisers, etc., please contact Daniel or Samantha.

***Samantha will be interested in partnering with local organizations in the DMV area upon her return from India to host collaborative donation-based classes and events with 100% of donations going directly to the organization. Please contact her to work together!
Help us heal this planet one awakened soul at a time!***

WE LOVE YOU!
